Thanksgiving dinner, holiday parties and family gatherings—the next few months will bring a lot of joy, laughter, food—and carpet stains.
Inviting guests into your home can get messy. No matter how careful you are, food and drink stains are inevitable. Whether it’s cranberry sauce, or a routine carpet cleaning, Service Master Complete Services can help you keep your carpet looking its best.
If it’s just a simple stain you are trying to remove, check your pantry! You might already have what it takes to get the job done. Here are a few common household products that are tough on stains.
Dishwashing Detergent. Mix ¼ teaspoon of translucent liquid dish soap with one cup of warm water for a simple and effective stain remover.
Vinegar. Mix one cup of white vinegar and two cups of water for an even more effective stain remover.
Cornstarch. Cornstarch makes a great grease cleaner. Simply sprinkle the cornstarch directly on the grease spot and let it sit for 15 – 30 minutes before vacuuming.
Baking Soda. Need to deodorize? Lightly sprinkle baking soda across carpet and let it sit several hours before vacuuming.
Borax. For a heavier duty carpet cleaner, mix ¼ cup of Borax, ¼ cup of salt and ¼ cup of vinegar. Rub paste into carpet and let it sit for a few hours before vacuuming.
Remember, always test a patch of your carpet before you treat all of it to make sure there will be no adverse reaction.
